They call me Rey. I am from Miami, Florida and have been practicing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu since October 2021. Currently I'm a blue belt. I have been drawing since before I could remember, and yes all of the art is done by me (absolutely 0% AI). Some time ago I developed an interest in Japanese history. Then boom, the artist that practices Jiu-jitsu and studies Japanese history started drawing Samurai doing Jiu-jitsu. What a predictable path.

As many of you may know already know Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is actually Japanese. Written history of (jūjutsu 柔術) dates back to 8th Japan. At the time it was a more complete system of close combat techniques sometimes including a small weapon. How does it feel knowing that of the techniques we practice are centuries old and battle tested?
